Doctor of Nurse Practice

Beginning in Fall 2012, the WSU College of Nursing will offer the DNP with specialization as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), or as an Advanced Population Health (APH) Advanced Practice Nurse.  Students will be able to enter this program after completing a baccalaureate or Master’s degree in nursing.

For baccalaureate graduates who enter the DNP program, it will be possible to concurrently obtain a Master’s degree to enable them to complete the licensure and certification examinations that will allow them to be employed as Nurse Practitioners while continuing to work towards their DNP. It is the college’s intention that all Nurse Practitioner students will obtain the DNP as a terminal degree. Some FNP and PMHNPs will choose to become DNPs by enrolling in our post-master’s programs.

Application deadline for Fall 2012 admission is January 10, 2011
